My love of the beauty industry was sparked when I was a child. I remember when my father, who ran manufacturing for Estée Lauder, took me to visit Estée’s office for the first time. I realized that a woman could love makeup, raise a family, and create a business.
After graduating from Princeton, I learned the ropes of the beauty world while working for L’Oreal. I later graduated from INSEAD Business School, and took my marketing and retail skills to Coty, Jo Malone and Space NK.
When I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to raise my family I thought I had left the world of beauty behind – but fate stepped in. It was there that I first discovered Skinfix, a 140-year-old natural healing balm. I used it on my daughter’s eczema and was amazed by its healing properties. I knew there was a market opportunity for products like Skinfix, that heal skin without steroids, irritants and synthetics. In 2012, I purchased the company from the great, great granddaughter of the original inventor, a British pharmacist, Thomas Dixon.
Today Skinfix is bringing together the two hottest growth categories in skincare – natural and dermatologist recommended. In my opinion, it’s not enough to be natural. Today’s consumer wants more. That’s why we focus on proving the clinical efficacy of our formulas. We also work tirelessly with dermatologists to vet our products and ensure we are meeting the highest safety standards.
In five short years, the 98% female team at Skinfix have grown the company from 4 healing balms to over 50 products that have won 28 major beauty awards from Allure, People and Redbook to name a few.
